Feldene is a Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug [NSAID], with anti-pyretic, anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties, used in the treatment of arthritic pain and inflammation.
Its medicinal compound, Piroxicam, belongs to the oxicam group of NSAIDs, and was approved by the FDA in 1982. As Piroxicam binds closely to plasma proteins [which transport molecules for hormones, lipids, metals, vitamins, and enzymes], it is able to reduce the hormones that spread pain and inflammation in the body.
Generic Feldene is widely used to treat pain caused by Osteoarthritis [OA], Rheumatoid Arthritis [RA], gout, periods, injury, or other musculoskeletal conditions. It also relieves inflammation and fever. The medicine is well absorbed, and reportedly rarely causes blood clotting, heart attacks, strokes or fatal liver problems. Many people taking this medicine may experience only less serious side effects.
